Mugman: The Return of a Legend

The intro was reanimated using the original assets from 2015, because I wanted to make sure the animation lined up with the rerecorded dialogue.

Speaking of the intro, Saltine, Onion O'Reilly, and Geo make appearances too.

The title of the episode is a double-entendre. For one, this is the first episode of my reboot, but also, this episode's about the return of Larry's 3D Computer Adventure, who, in-universe, is famous enough to get his own Halloween costume.

The boxing narrator's voice and lines were based on Cuphead, and I want this reboot to have a lot more Cuphead references in the future. (can you blame me?)

The first part of the first scene was based on the scrapped cartoon, "Mugman at the Stadium."

All of the "gameplay footage" of Larry's 3D Computer Adventure 2 looks like it was made in Anim8or, but in reality, I know absolutely nothing about said software other than the ability to export models in a non-Anim8or format. I actually animated those scenes in Blender, but I still wanted the Anim8or aesthetic to be there, hence why it looks the part.

Speaking of which, the models for Larry and the aliens are the exact same ones used in the 2015 episode, "The Big-Mouthed Bumbler."

The sound effects in Larry 2 were taken from very old versions of Roblox, thanks to RevilleAJ for lending me the sounds!

The fact that Larry 2 is so expensive is a play on how expensive Nintendo Switch 2 games are.

The game store is GameScams, which originally came from The Dups.

There are a ton of games in GameScams, ranging from fictional ones (like Rain Dodger and Slitherin' Simon, the latter of which came from Crazy Compositions) to real-world ones (like Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, both of the Pac-Man World: Re-Pac games, and Cuphead. Come on, I had to.)

I went and turned a background character into a much more major one. Geo, the crescent-headed blue creature, works at the Flea Market in Wedgwood. I chose Geo because I was always fascinated by his design. Who knows, I might give other characters the same "background-to-recurring" treatment, like Gabel/Chickpea.

Most of the stuff that Geo's selling is based on real-world toys. There's a Bop It, a 2x2 Rubik's Cube, a Super Famicom/EU Super Nintendo controller, a Vac-Man toy, and a Mr. Potato Head. The only one that isn't based on a real-world toy is the Happy Worm toy, which merely just serves as a reference to my other series, Building Block World.

The Sonic Adventure 2: Battle photo on ePeninsula was taken by yours truly. It's one of my favorite GameCube games so I knew I had to include it.

Speaking of which, the price for it is $27.63, which you might recognize as the recurring BFDI number.

The Larry's 3D Computer Adventure photo was originally going to be a flat PNG of the cover art, similar to the Larry 2 listing. During production, Alex Parr printed out the cover and took a photo of it in a real jewel case, which is the image that was used in the final episode.

Originally, in that same scene, Mugman's shocked expression wasn't as exaggerated when seeing Larry 2's unconventional price, instead it was just a normal expression. Dylan suggested a more exaggerated one, which is what we ended up using.

The price for Larry 2 on ePeninsula is $599.99, the price that Scammers (from The Dups) sells just about everything for.

Saltine finally has a voice. For awhile, Cami's had this "stereotypical teenage girl" voice that she used for a knockoff of the Pac-Man character Sue in a Storybook Weaver collab, and I thought it'd be perfect for a character like Saltine.
